I think it's a great way for students to learn, to practice, and to realize that just because someone is a highly praised and venerated public figure, it does not make them a saint, and that you need to look at every situation and person from multiple angles. Plus, Columbus always seemed douchey to me when I was studying him in high school, but hey, at least he has a defense attorney, right?
Ignore the last post. Cortez yea. Columbus maybe. Until we begin how to treat people in other nations by respecting their choice of government we probably still need some of this kind of "reflection"
I like it. I may even incorporaye it into the Thanksgiving Day post I'm working on.

Aang - what a curious statement. It's important, I think, to note that America is only a result of European colonialism.
