Hat in Ring

Annoying Joe is officially endorsing Jimmy McMillan, the NY gubernatorial candidate from the Rent Is Too Damn High Party in his bid for the governorship of the Empire State. If you witnessed the debacle that was the gubernatorial debate last night, you would quickly understand why we are throwing our considerable weight behind this great man. Some highlights...

My man's thirsty! I suppose by "highlights" I would have been more accurate in saying "only highlights." Suffice it to say that Mr. Mcmillan was not only the most entertaining debater of the evening, but the most honest. Shoe-in Democratic candidate Andrew Cuomo white-noised his way through the debate, always ready with the appropriate and utterly prepared comment that we have all come to loathe.

That last comment by Mr. McMillan regarding marrying a shoe was in response to the moderator's question on whether Mr. McMillan supported gay marriage. Apparently, kung-fu expert Mr. McMillan is not opposed, cuz the rents too damn high. And you know something? He's right.

Please, if you would, visit the party's website here. Epileptics beware.

  6. So...
You believe everything a politician tells you?

If so, then you probably believe (falsely) that the United States Constitution spells out the separation of church and state.

  7. Spirit vs. Letter.

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof', thus building a wall of separation between Church & State"

    -Thomas Jefferson, 1802

No, that term isn't in the Constitution. But Mr. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants" is expressing, clearly, the intent.

You so-called "Progressives" see what you want to see and -- time after time -- showing utter disrespect for the supreme law of the land, invent Constitutional principles which simply do not exist.

The only thing Jefferson was saying (in that informal, non-binding letter) was that the First Amendment was the one and only brick required in that wall.

Again, the only restriction which the First Amendment places upon the "free exercise" of religion is that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".

PERIOD! End of story! Except, of course, in the fantasies of so-called “Progressives”.

  9. Sorry. I will take Mr. Jefferson's words over yours anyday. I mean, he was there, after all. I suppose thats why these brilliant men had the wherewithal to create the Supreme court.

Claiming sovereignty over truth is and will always be your greatest weakness.

    But I respect your opinion.

    Hey the Yankees won!

  10. AJ,

Jefferson's meaning could not possibly be more clear. He said:

"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof', thus building a wall of separation between Church & State"

So, unless you want to pull a Bill Clinton and debate the meaning of the world "thus", the case is closed. The ONE and ONLY restriction upon the "free exercise" of religion could not possibly have been made more clear for all to see:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

    PERIOD! END OF STORY!

Gosh though, the way you use the bold and the caps and the exclamatio. You're like a petulant child.

  12. What is the world coming to when you didn't even mention the successful and clever business leader Kristin Davis?

Unlike Mr. Jimmy McMillan, Miss Davis has intimate experience with government officials, and leadership.(I believe Spitzer mentioned she liked to take the lead).

Turns out "Mr. Rent is too damn high" hasn't paid it for the last eight years. Talk about not putting your money where your mouth is.

Unlike Miss Davis, who reportedly put her mouth where the money was.
